The rich landowner Sir Charles Baskerville is found dead in the park of his manor surrounded by the grim moor of Dartmoor, in the county of Devon. His death seems to have been caused by a heart attack, but the victim's best friend, Dr. Mortimer, is convinced that the strike was due to a supernatural creature, which haunts the moor in the shape of an enormous hound, with blazing eyes and jaws. In order to protect Baskerville's heir, Sir Henry, who's arriving to London from Canada, Dr. Mortimer asks for Sherlock Holmes' help, telling him also of the so-called Baskervilles' curse, according to which a monstrous hound has been haunting and killing the family males for centuries, in revenge for the misdeeds of one Sir Hugo Baskerville, who lived at the time of Oliver Cromwell.

John Green has done a superb job in adapting the classic story into graphic format. The pen and ink illustrations are clean and each panel is well thought out and precisely illustrates the moment. I think the 6"x9" size renders it just a little too small for someone to color the illustrations with pencil and the paper itself isn't friendly to markers. I thought this would be a good gift for a young family member who has quite a talent for pen and ink drawing - it would make good study material for him.The adaptation and illustrations are so well done I think any young person who reads this will be inspired to get and read regular versions of Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories.

Tiny font. Hard to read.
Love all the margins space in this print. Absolutely perfect for my daughters school project and no need to have a ton of post-it notes.
Turned up right on time. Due to the intricacy of the artwork, I'd say it's not for a young child, but teen or adult to color. It's a wonderful new way to tell an exciting old story.
This is an abridged ( very) version of the Hound of the Baskervilles. The art is very basic, charmless, black and white, line drawings. They have no shading, character or depth. Makes a classic and wonderful mystery, quite dull.
My son absolutely loves this book. He is 11 and wrote a great book report on it for school.
I like that this book makes a literary classic accessible to un-enthusiastic readers. The illustrations are fine, with the exception of the eyes - the blank pupils creeped me out. I colored them all in before I gave my daughter the book. She then colored in most of the illustrations.
This is NOT a graphic novel. I don't know what the other reviewers are talking about but this has text only. There aren't even chapter heading images, like none, nada, nothing. I bought this SPECIFICALLY based on the description and reviews that it was a graphic novel. Huge disappointment and totally misleading.
